Trying Out Chest Waxing

Yes, I finally taken the plunge and went on my first chest waxing appointment yesterday! It was a salon my wife frequents for her quarterly hair removal waxing service. She wasn't sure initially if they offered chest waxing for men and called her personal waxing specialist to check. After which, she made an appointment for me to check it out. Frankly speaking, I was pretty apprehensive at first about trying out body waxing. Especially having heard so many people's horrible accounts of it. But surprisingly it turned out to be quite a pleasant experience for me.

For a start, the chest waxing salon that I went to was very professional. The moment I entered the door, I was directed to a cosy sitting area and served with a warm cup of ginger tea. The smoothing new age music and nice scent from the aromatherapy candles put me in a very relaxed mood. I wasn't scared at all. Contrary to what a lot of men mentioned about their hair waxing experience.

After a short wait of about 5 minutes, a well groomed lady walked over and introduced herself as Susan - my personal wax specialist for the day. Susan was very reassuring. When I asked if the whole procedure would be painful, she advised that there will definitely be some pain but the more you do it, the less painful it will be. Since it was my first time, she said there will be some "adjustment" required. Hmm... nice! She also mentioned something about hair regrowths getting finer with each chest wax and hence making the subsequent sessions a lot faster and more comfortable. Hair will definitely grow back as chest waxing is definitely not a permanent hair removal solution, she explained. Depending on the length of the regrowth, I would be required to come for a maintenance treatment. She told me to avoid shaving during the regrowth phase as that will defeat the purpose of waxing in the first place. If I want a hair removal method slightly more permanent, I could try out electrolysis. Seriously, I liked her honesty.

I was eventually ushered into a small room and was provide a soft large towel. Susan advised me to take off my shirt in private and lie on the bed on my back with the towel covering my upper body. Initially I thought it would be awkward having to bare my chest in front of another woman other than my wife but the way this professional boutique handles was very reassuring. Susan subsequently came in and cleaned up my chest to ensure that there wasn't any residual or sweat that would affect the waxing procedure and after which, left the room. She came back with a small plastic bowl and was stirring the concoction. I suspect that was the wax. I lay still as she applied the wax over my chest.

The wax felt warm and has a nice aroma. After all the wax were applied, Susan told me to rest while the wax dry up. When she came back about almost 10 minutes later, she ripped off the dried off wax as if it was a huge plaster. Ouuuccch! There was some pain but as the whole procedure happened very fast, it wasn't as bad as I thought. The result, however was pretty good. My chest hair was removed. What was left was a smooth finish. A clean and nice chest! And you know what? My wife loved it.
