When my wife introduced to waxing, I realized that it's also one popular form of male hair removal. Yeah, in times like this, it's not only women who are well groomed. Men are into grooming and waxing as a form of male hair removal methods is getting very popular. And if you ask me why, I guess it has to do with the images portrayed by the male models and sports stars. Ever wondered why David Beckham is literally hair free?
No longer is waxing something just for body builders or so. In fact, figures have shown that male hair removal procedures such as body, chest, legs waxing are getting more and more popular with men. This have sort of convinced me that it's ok to just go and try out waxing. I used to think waxing is a women's thing but after doing the research and realizing that many men - many of them straight - are doing this, I'm pretty tempted to try it. Why am I doing it? Well, it's for my dear wife.
But I do have some other reservations. First of all, my pain threshold is kinda low. And I heard body or chest male waxing can be rather painful. They pour hot wax over the area and rip it off after the wax dried, removing all strands of hair right from the roots. Images of reality TV shows showing screaming men during waxing sessions freaked me out. My wife, a regular waxing veteran herself assured me it's not as bad as I thought. But logically speaking, since men's hair are relatively much more thicker than women's, chances are it gotta be more painful isn't it?
The truth is, life is made up of different experiences, both good and bad so I've decided to do more research on this male hair waxing thingy. After all, knowledge is power and I certainly hope this information will help reassure myself.
Hmm... based what I've read, it seems that for first time waxing, it's important to get an experienced therapist. He or she can work at a pace that will somehow make it as pain free as possible. And there are also different types of waxes, specifically catered for men which contain ingredients with a soothing effect. And interestingly, the more treatments you go through, the less painful you'll feel each time. What's the rationale? Hair that has yet to be waxed before tend to be much more deep rooted and hence the pain will be slightly on the higher side. After which the hair regrowth will be much younger, finer and not as deep rooted. Besides, as you go through each treatment, your pain threshold increases too!
Most if not all people will feel a bit awkward to undress themselves in front of a stranger but if the waxing boutique you go to is a professional one, they usually makes you feel at ease. The customer usually undress himself in private and lie on the waxing table with a towel covering him.
There shouldn't be any side effects for male hair waxing too unless you've sensitive skin. If you bruise easily or have ailments such as diabetes, it's best to consult your doctor before attempting any waxing. Men who have cracked or sun burnt skin should also avoid getting waxed until your skin heals.
That's all I've found out about male hair removal on waxing. Do share with me your experience if you've any in the comments!
